I decided to stick with Oedipus because it features my hero: Mike Postle. Mike Postle is the most talented actor I know. Not only is he a kung fu and karate expert, but he is a funny, funny physical comedian. Watch this video if you don't believe me. One time, Mike Postle said "i hate you gabe llanas," but he said it in an ironic way, so he actually meant that he didn't hate me, but that we were such good friends that he felt comfortable saying something like that to me because he knew I would understand that it was a joke and that i wouldn't be offended or think he actually hated me. That's just one of many examples of how mike and i are such good friends. For the record, I’ve been trying to say it in an “iconic” way, not an “ironic” way. My hope was that “I hate you Gabe Llanas” would find it’s way into the annals of popular lexicon, akin to such popular and enduring catch-phrases like: “Avoid the Noid”, “I’m not Herb”, “C-C-C-C-Catch the wave”, “Keep on Truckin’”, and the everlasting “Never had it, Never will”. There has been some minor interest piqued in the term “Frassin’”, however “I hate you Gabe Llanas” is looking to be big. Big, I tell you.

Secretly? I envy Gabe. If you were to sit me down and say, treat me to a glass of amusing house wine, I may tell you all that I admire his wit, charm, fashion sense, and yes…his well sculpted pectorals. Greek god, he is. Mexican God, even. Or is it Pakistani? Whatever.

Yes, this “Loving Hatred” I yield is merely an onion-skinned charade, masking my own insecurities.

Dammit Gabe. You’ve made me cry. I hate you. And once I get outta traction, I’m gonna whup yer buns good. Better sleep with one eye open, pal.

Well, despite my traditional aversion to all things theatrical I went to the actor's night preview thingy at the new guthrie last night and let's just say, that mutha is like the death star of theatres. Seriously, Joe Dowling is Darth Vader. And if I were on the board of Alderaan Theatre Co. I would think seriously of relocating to another galaxy. In this particular metaphor, let's say, I'm Wedge Antilles, and No Refunds is Rogue Squadron. And there was lots of sleeping involved. Anyway. The Great Moments of Kung Fu Theatre was outstanding, and if you missed it, you should feel very sad. Thanks to all the performers, writers, actors, martial artists, volunteers, and the Illusion for letting us use their fine space. Obviously we needed all of you to make the show as good as it was. As promised, I will be posting video from the show as I capture and cut it, but I am quickly running out of hardrive space again, so their might be a few gaps in video postings. But to start things out, here is the Oedipus vs. the Monks fight from the show. Featuring the voice talents of Ryan Kathman (Laius, Chorus), Trevor Hartman (Oedipus), and you might get a snippet of Mary Ellen, and the martial arts talents of Mike Postle (Oedipus), Roman Postle (Monk) and Rob Ford (Monk), and the toga wearing talents of Chris Howie (Laius) and Jenny Hollingsworth (Chorus).
